Add Dependents to JeffConnect Account – Minor and Adult Dependent Registration

Minor (defined as < 18 years old) and adult dependent accounts (18 and older) can be linked to a primary JeffConnect account. 

Minors need to be listed as dependents on a parent/guardian JeffConnect account in order to register and initiate their JeffConnect video visits. They will get an error message if they try to register themselves without an adult primary JeffConnect account. 

How an Adult Patient Can Add a Dependent to Their JeffConnect Account

On a Computer

Make sure the parent/guardian account is registered. To register a new account, go to JeffConnect.org and click the Register Your Account button. Complete the steps of registration using the parent or guardian information. 

Once the parent/guardian account is registered stay logged in on the patient account. Click Add Patient in the top right corner.

The names listed are linked to the account already. You can click on the name to activate the account. If you need to add a new person to your account, select Other.

Enter the information for the dependent and then click Continue.

Once the account is added, you will see two patient profiles when logged into the parent/guardian account in JeffConnect.

For minor dependents, click the Profile button under the patient/dependent account. Enter the address, height, weight and phone number. This is needed to avoid complications when joining a visit.

On the app

Log into the JeffConnect app.

Go to the bottom of the home screen and tap My Account.   

The names listed are linked to the account already. You can click on the name to activate the account. If you need to add a new person to your account, tap the  +  symbol in the upper right corner.   

Complete the profile information and tap Add Dependent.  

Follow any screens to set up your dependent and/or Spouse accounts.   

How to Activate a Minor Dependent Account as an Adult Dependent (after 18 years old)

When a minor turns 18 years old, they become an adult dependent. Their account remains linked to the parent/guardian JeffConnect account, but now requires its own username and password. The parent/guardian can no longer enter the adult dependent’s account and does not need to initiate visits for the adult dependent.

To add an adult dependent:

Follow the above steps for “How an Adult Patient Can Add a Dependent to Their JeffConnect Account” above. If the dependent previously had a minor dependent account in JeffConnect, skip to Step 2.

In the primary account holder’s account, click Send Invite on the icon for the adult dependent.

Add an email address for the invitation link to be sent to.

There are no known limitations on the email address that can be used. In the case where the adult dependent does not have an email address and does not want to create one, the primary account holder can send the invite link to an email address that they have access to. The adult dependent could also make a new email address.This email address is where links to join appointments will be sent, so it is important that the adult dependent and/or whoever is assisting them continues to have access.

Use the link in the email to make a username and password for the adult dependent’s account.

To join a visit for the adult dependent, click on the reminder email for the visit and go to jeffconnect.org on a computer or to the JeffConnect app on a smartphone/tablet. Log in with the username and password for the adult dependent’s account. Go to My Visits and join the visit.

How Primary Account Holders Can Initiate a Visit for a Minor Dependent

Follow the steps above for “How an Adult Patient Can Add a Dependent to Their JeffConnect Account”.

To initiate a scheduled visit for the minor dependent, click on Visits underneath their profile name.
